CARD GRADING LAB

A 3-step pre-submission analysis: measure centering against a PSA 10 reference, AI-scan for corners/edges/surface, and get a PSA 10 probability score.

Step 1: Upload a PSA 10 reference card and your raw card for both front and back. Set the centering borders and save both sides to proceed to Step 2.

Centering Comparison

Upload a reference card (e.g., a PSA 10 photo). Drag the center icon to position the grid, line up solid handles with the card exterior, then dashed handles with the printed image border. Use Flip H/V if the photo is mirrored or upside down. Click Save, then upload your raw card — the saved centering is applied as a starting point; drag the center to reposition it onto your card and fine-tune the handles. GRADING 101

Turn Raw Cards Into Graded Gold

Grading is the single most profitable move in sports cards. A $5 raw card can become a $500 PSA 10. Here's how we find those opportunities — and how you can capitalize on them.

OUR 5-STEP GRADING PROCESS

STEP 1

IDENTIFY RAW GEMS

We source raw (ungraded) cards with elite visual appeal — sharp corners, pristine surfaces, and strong centering. Every card is hand-inspected against PSA's strict grading criteria before we list it.

Only ~15% of raw cards we evaluate make it to our inventory.

STEP 2

ANALYZE POPULATION DATA

We cross-reference PSA population reports to find low-population, high-demand cards. A card with only 50 PSA 10s out of 10,000 graded means genuine scarcity — and serious upside.

Low pop count + high demand = maximum return potential.

STEP 3

CALCULATE THE UPSIDE

We compare raw buy prices against recent PSA 10 auction comps to estimate your potential return. Our PSA 10 Upside filter ranks every card by how much value grading could unlock.

Some raw cards sell for $5 and grade to $500+ — that's 100× ROI.

STEP 4

GEM RATE PROJECTIONS

Using historical data from PSA, BGS, and SGC, we estimate each card's likelihood of earning a GEM Mint grade. Cards with 60%+ gem rates are flagged as Alpha Picks.

We only recommend cards with a clear statistical edge.

STEP 5

BUY · GRADE · PROFIT

You buy the raw card from us at market price, submit it to PSA (or let us handle it), and keep the graded card or sell it for the premium. The spread between raw and graded is your profit.

The average Alpha Pick sees a 6–12× return when graded PSA 10.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why should I grade my cards?

Grading transforms a raw card into a certified, liquid asset. A PSA 10 typically commands 5–20× the raw price — and graded cards sell faster because buyers trust the third-party authentication. Whether you're holding or flipping, grading is the single highest-leverage move in the hobby.

Which grading company should I use?

PSA is the gold standard for modern sports cards and commands the highest resale premiums. BGS is preferred for thick patch cards and autographs. SGC is gaining traction for vintage. We default to PSA in all our upside calculations because it offers the widest market and strongest premiums.

How do I submit cards for grading?

PSA accepts direct submissions at PSAcard.com. Turnaround ranges from 10–45 business days depending on service level. We recommend the 'Value' tier ($25/card) for most modern cards. If you'd rather not deal with the paperwork, reach out — we offer a concierge grading service for Alpha Cards customers.

What does 'GEM Rate' mean?

The GEM Rate is our estimate of the probability that a given raw card will earn a PSA 10 (Gem Mint) grade. We base this on population report data — if 600 of 1,000 graded copies of a card earned PSA 10, the gem rate is 60%. Higher gem rates mean better odds of hitting the big premium.

Are PSA values guaranteed?

No. PSA values shown on our cards are estimated market comps based on recent eBay and auction sales. The actual grade a card receives depends on PSA's evaluation. We do not guarantee any specific grade outcome. See our Store Policies for full details.

What sports do you cover?

We cover football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and Pokémon. Our research database tracks thousands of cards across every major brand — Prizm, Select, Topps Chrome, Optic, and more.
